And when this adventure falls on a full moon night, the experience becomes something truly magical.
Reach the Highest Point of West Bengal
At 3,636 m, Sandakphu is the highest point in West Bengal, located along the Singalila Ridge on the India–Nepal border. The journey from Maneybhanjan to Sandakphu is an adventure in itself. The rugged mountain roads and vintage Land Rover make every turn part of the experience. The drive may be bumpy, but once you reach the summit, the mountains make every moment worthwhile.
Four Giants. One Incredible View. Sandakphu’s biggest attraction is its extraordinary Himalayan panorama.
From the summit, you can witness four of the world’s highest peaks:
- 🏔️ Mt. Everest
- 🏔️ Kanchenjunga
- 🏔️ Lhotse
- 🏔️ Makalu
Few places offer such a spectacular mountain panorama from a single viewpoint. And if you’re lucky, the adventure may come with a rare encounter with the Himalayan Red Panda and other mountain wildlife.
Now imagine standing at 3,636 m under a clear full moon, with the mighty Himalayan peaks glowing against the night sky. The snow-covered mountains shimmer in the moonlight, the valleys fall silent, and the entire landscape feels almost surreal. It’s not just a night in the mountains. It’s a memory you’ll carry for a lifetime.

Tumbling is a small beautiful tiny hamlet that is located on the route to Sandakphu. Our Land Rover ride starts from Maneybhanjan and the road to Tumling will be a bit rough. When you enter Tumling, right at the centre of this village there is an open ground from where you will get to see magnificent views of the Kanchenjunga. The place is decked up with vibrant colourful Buddhist Prayer Flags that add a personal touch to this place. Night stay at Tumling in a comfortable homestay.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, absolutely! While Sandakphu is famous as a trekking destination, our Sandakphu Road Trip allows you to reach the summit without trekking. We use heritage, 4x4 vintage Land Rovers starting from Maneybhanjan to navigate the rugged trails, making it perfect for those who want the views without the physical exertion.
The best time to visit is during the spring (March to April) to witness the vibrant Rhododendron blooms across Singalila National Park, and during autumn (October to November) for the clearest, cloudless views of the Himalayan peaks.
On a clear full moon night, the moonlight naturally illuminates the snow-capped peaks of the "Sleeping Buddha" (Mt. Kanchenjunga). The mountains literally glitter against the dark sky, offering a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience that you cannot get on regular nights.
Yes, the journey is safe. The road from Maneybhanjan to Sandakphu is steep, boulder-strewn, and requires serious off-roading skills. This is exactly why only authorized, highly experienced local drivers with specially maintained vintage 4x4 Land Rovers are permitted to drive on this route. It is bumpy and adventurous, but you are in expert hands.
Sandakphu is situated at an altitude of 3,636m (11,900 ft) and experiences freezing winds, especially in the early mornings and at night. Temperatures can easily drop near or below zero depending on the month. You must pack heavy winter wear, including thermal innerwear, a windproof down jacket, gloves, woolen caps, and sturdy shoes.
Mobile connectivity is very poor or non-existent in most parts of the Singalila ridge. You might get an intermittent BSNL or Airtel signal near Maneybhanjan or Tumling, but do not rely on it. We advise informing your family about the network blackout before the trip begins so you can unplug and fully immerse yourself in nature.
