The Kanchenjunga North Base Camp trek is a 14-night/15-day expedition organized by Altitude Adventure Holidays. The trek, rated as “Hard,” reaches a maximum altitude of 5,143 meters at Pang Pema. Participants are required to have previous experience trekking above 4,500 meters and must submit a medical certificate
Overview
Preparation
Previous experience of trekking above 4,500m is MUST. The trekker needs to be prepared to walk on various terrains such as scree, snow and grass. The pass crossing day will be long with some tricky sections while descending. Be prepared to walk in pretty thin air on the day you cross Sinelapche La & Mirgin La.
Please Note
You need to submit a medical certificate from a registered physician before the trek.
After the commencement of the trip, if anybody leaves the team midway, he/she has to cover all the expenses for stays/car/meals and all the expenses of the staff/staffs
assigned to make his/her return safe.
Payment Terms
- 25% of the total amount has to be deposited as Confirmation amount.
- The rest 25% amount will be cash collection on Day 1 of the journey.
- 50% needs to be deposited at least 7 days prior to the date of pick-up.

Cancellation Terms
- After Trek/Trip commences, NO REFUND.
- 2-7 days before, upto 40% retention of the full package
amount. - One day before, upto 70% retention of the full package

Itinerary

Arrival at NJP Railway Station/Airport. Meet our representative and drive towards the beautiful hill town of Ilam in eastern Nepal. Famous for its lush tea gardens and rolling hills, Ilam offers a perfect introduction to the Himalayan landscape. Spend the evening exploring the local market and tea estates.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive towards Sekathum via Taplejung. The route passes through charming mountain villages, river valleys and terraced farmlands. Upon arrival, prepare for the trekking adventure ahead.

Begin the trek along the banks of the Ghunsa Khola. Cross several suspension bridges and pass through dense forests, waterfalls and remote settlements before reaching Amjilosa.

Continue trekking through beautiful forests and narrow mountain trails. The route offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and traditional mountain settlements.

After breakfast, continue towards the picturesque village of Ghunsa. Pass through Phale Village and enjoy the changing alpine landscape as you gain altitude.

A crucial acclimatization day to adapt to the higher altitude. Explore the village and undertake short hikes around the surrounding ridges.

Trek through rugged alpine terrain following the river valley. The route offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and glaciers.

Continue ascending through dramatic glacial valleys. The terrain becomes increasingly barren and rugged, offering a true high-altitude trekking experience.

An early morning start for the most awaited day of the trek. Reach Pangpema, the legendary Kanchenjunga North Base Camp, offering unparalleled views of Kanchenjunga and surrounding Himalayan giants.

Begin the descent back towards Ghunsa. Retrace the route through Kambachen while enjoying the magnificent mountain scenery from a different perspective.

This day is reserved for weather delays, acclimatization requirements or any unforeseen circumstances during the trek.

Continue descending through alpine forests and traditional villages on the return journey.

The final trekking day takes you back through dense forests and suspension bridges before reaching Sekathum.

After breakfast, drive back towards Ilam through the scenic hills and valleys of eastern Nepal.

Drive back to NJP while enjoying the final views of the Himalayan foothills and tea gardens.

If the trek is cancelled due to weather, political unrest, or road conditions, the applicable amount can be adjusted toward a future booking within 12 months, subject to the stated cancellation policy.
